What We’re Doing to Change the Narrative.

Our mission at PULSE is to improve the vitality of the south end neighbourhood and wellbeing of its residents. In order to accomplish our mission we committed to taking action in the following areas.

Food Security

Food Purchasing Club

The FPC provides access to healthy seasonal produce at a more affordable price. Pooling money from orders allows us to purchase in bulk directly from wholesalers and we pass these savings onto club members. This service is available to anyone. $15 and $25 orders available. Pay it forward is also available.

Community Garden

PULSE supports the costs and efforts behind a special gardening committee for the Rainbow Community Garden. The garden is maintained by theis special volunteer crew who have prepared over 40 plus beds for the use of residents.

Help Yourself Pantry

Created by both residents and P.U.L.S.E Inc. over 3 years ago, the pantry opened its doors just months prior to the pandemic. A safe and friendly, non-judgmental environment where South End residents in need could received food items and connect with other programs and services in the building and surrounding community.

When the province first went into lockdown, neighbourhood organizations came together forming the Greater Saint John Emergency Food Program which delivered food hampers to those in need through out the city.  In the Summer of 2020, we transition back into the Pulse Pantry providing pantry bags twice per month to those in need in the South End. In 2021 we served over 156 families and providing over 1500 meals to families.

In May as the pandemic ends, we are excited to transition to a Help Yourself Community Pantry which will allow residents to choose what items they need.  Residents will be able to access the Help Yourself Pantry during our open hours Monday to Friday. If you would like to donate to this wonderful initiative call or email us at 632-6807 or
